Aam pora Sorbot/Roasted Mango Sorbet

In spite of the scorching heat, there are hundreds of reasons to love the summer. In my childhood days, summer used to come in a guise of blessing.Whole 2 months of summer vacation! There is no school! No pressure of study!Ice cream!Mangoes!oh when it comes to mango then how can I forget the aam pora sorbot? It used to be my favorite drink made by my mom for the entire summer vacation. It used to keep our body cool.It is said that roasting of mango takes all the heat out of the mango and it makes our body cool.It is my favorite summer cooler drink. Here I am sharing the recipe.

Ingredients:
Serving - 16 glasses(approx)

  1. Raw Mangoes - 3
  2. Sugar - 2 1/2 cup powdered (it may vary depending on the size and soreness of the mango)
  3. black salt - 1/2 tsp per glass
  4. cumin seed - 2 tbsp
  5. red chilly - 3
  6. cold water and some ice cubes
Method:
Roast the mangoes directly on flame. You need to rotate and roast so that all sides are equally roasted.
After roasting, cool the mangoes. You can place them directly under running cold water. After it is cooled, remove the skin and take out the pulp.Discard the seed.

For the dry masala, heat a tawa. Add the cumin seeds and red chilies.Dry roast them till the cumin seeds change its color.Do not overdo then it may get charred. Now grind it using a mixer grinder or mortar pester.
Now add sugar powder, mango pulp and the dry roasted masala powder in a blender and blend it well.
You can refrigerate this mixer. It will stay good for 1 week at least.

Before serving fill quarter of a glass with the mixer.Fill the rest of glass with chill water.Add 1/2 tsp of black salt and mix well.Sprinkle little roasted masala on top and serve with ice cube.
It tastes best when served in a matka(earthen pot).
